WHAT IS HEMOROID?

Hemorrhoids, which are mostly unknown, are seen in a quarter of adults. Hemorrhoid bleeding manifests itself with symptoms such as pain during defecation, with defecation being normally different and irregular. External hemorrhoids are defined as under the skin and on the outside of the anus.

The discomfort that occurs in the end of the large intestine or in the rectum as it is called in the medical language is defined as internal hemorrhoids. In some cases, hemorrhoids, which are also known as anal fissures, are mixed with cracks in the breech area or abscesses around the breech, a disorder that causes a decrease in the quality of life of the person. Hemorrhoid tissue is a pillow-like tissue that prevents the involuntary defecation of every person, and the outflow of gas and liquid. It is usually seen in those who work sitting and those who work constantly standing still. Hemorrhoids is a condition that occurs when the vein around the anus relaxes and a piece of tissue hangs outward.

Hemorrhoids can cause bleeding from time to time. A person with hemorrhoids does not realize it in its early stages. However, as the disease progresses, symptoms such as itching, discomfort, pain and bleeding appear. In the case of coagulation in the inner part of the hemorrhoid, the pain becomes very severe. A person suffering from hemorrhoids is recommended to change their lifestyle first. While internal hemorrhoids are usually painless, external hemorrhoids can cause extremely severe pain.

CAUSES OF HEMOROIDS

  • Difficulty defecating
  • Urinating hard stools
  • Fiber-free diet
  • Sitting on the toilet for longer than five minutes
  • Experiencing persistent diarrhea or constipation
  • Some sports activities (horse riding, cycling, indoor sports such as spinning)
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Obesity
  • Occupations that require prolonged sitting or standing

STAGES OF HEMOROIDS

Although hemorrhoid disease does not show any symptoms in the initial stages, it can lead to the following symptoms in the future:

  • Rectal bleeding
  • Discharge, swelling or feeling of wetness in the breech area
  • Chickpea-sized firm swelling in the anus
  • Itching
  • Change in defecation pattern
  • Pain or burning during defecation
  • Pain in the early stages of the disease is not usually caused by hemorrhoids.

This condition is mostly a symptom of different diseases such as thrombosed hemorrhoids, perianal abscess and anal fissure. In addition, rectal bleeding can occur due to reasons such as anal fissure, perianal fistula, perianal abscess, thrombosis and rectal cancer. The cause of the fresh and bright red bleeding coming from the anus can only be understood with the control of a physician.

WHAT TO CONSIDER TO PREVENT HEMOROIDS

  • A diet rich in fiber should be adopted,
  • Do not spend a long time in the toilet,
  • Children should be taught to go to the toilet when they need it and not to spend a long time there, the duration of stay in the toilet should be 3-5 minutes,
  • Do not strain excessively during defecation,
  • Sports and regular exercise should be done,
  • Recognizing the negative effects of riding a horse, motorcycle or bicycle in terms of hemorrhoidal disease,
  • It should not be ignored that heavy sports such as weightlifting and wrestling have negative effects due to strain.

HEMOROID TREATMENT

Hemorrhoids that reduce the person's quality of life can be treated with medication, interventional treatment methods or surgical operation.

In the medicated treatment methods preferred for hemorrhoids in the first and second stages, cortisone-containing pomades, analgesic creams to reduce pain, and other drugs that help regulate blood circulation are used. In addition to medications, she may also recommend a sitz bath with warm water.

Sclerotherapy, which is one of the interventional treatment methods, is also known as needle therapy among the people. In the sclerotherapy method, the drug is injected directly into the veins inside the hemorrhoid tissue.

In the band ligation or band strangulation method, the treatment is done in a few sessions. The neck part of the hemorrhoid formation is smothered with tape and the hemorrhoids fall off.

Laser burning technique is another interventional treatment method. In the laser treatment method performed in a few sessions, it is aimed to close the vascular ball.

During surgical treatment, the physician pulls the hemorrhoid tissue into the anus with the longo method and cuts off the blood flow. Thus, the hemorrhoids are extinguished.
